Journeys stands on the foundation of its core values by celebrating the spirit of giving back & supporting the incredible work of non-profits across Middle Tennessee.
“The Big Payback” is Middle Tennessee’s 24-hour day of giving. To celebrate, Journeys has made donations to two of its local non-profit partners, Youth Villages of Middle Tennessee and Rocketown. Below, you can read about the impact of each non-profit and the impact they have on the communities they serve.
On average, only 3% of youth who age out of the foster care system ever graduate from a four-year university, but 48% of Youth Villages Scholars graduate from higher education institutions. This achievement allows them to be more competitive in the job market and helps to elevate them out of the poverty cycle. The Big Payback donation from Journeys will help these YV scholars reach these fundamental achievements, placing them on the road to success.
The staff and volunteers at Rocketown have a holistic approach to working with youth, through programs and services that nurture the mind, body and spirit. Youth are able to engage through attraction-based facilities like the Sixth Avenue Skatepark, live music at Rocketown’s event venue, dance classes, recording studios, a coffee shop, as well as programs like Rocketown’s Assisted Meal Program, summer camps, afterschool academic enrichment and creative arts courses. Journeys has been a long-time partner with Rocketown, and will continue its partnership through a donation during the The Big Payback.
