What Has ATC Been Up to?

If you’re not keeping up with Journeys ATC, then you’re missing out! ATC, short for Attitude that Cares, is the heartbeat of the entire Journeys organization. It keeps us connected to the communities that surround us and helps us spread a little Journeys love everywhere we go!

Our ATC team and countless volunteers have been busy, busy bees this spring, keeping up with all of the needs. Here’s a recap of just a few of the things they’ve been up to!

Rocketown Talent Show

Journeys is a proud sponsor of Rocketown, a Nashville-based youth outreach facility. Over the past several years, our partnership has grown to include enrichment opportunities for teens, facility upgrades, shoe donations, and more. In March, we got to be a part of one of the BEST and most fun Rocketown events of the year: the talent show.

During this event, student artists from all over the Nashville metro area come together to showcase their talents and compete for major prizes in front of friends, peers, and family. Journeys not only had a talent representative volunteer on the judging panel, but we also sponsored a dinner for all of the talent and viewers in attendance, had volunteers to serve at the event, and gave out more than $500 in grand prize gift cards!

Activation in Arlington, TX

Next, we headed down south to Texas to meet up with our friends and store managers in District 40. We activated in Arlington to provide resources to people in need within the community. As a team, we put together homeless care kits to donate to Mission Arlington and then put together art kits to donate to the Boys and Girls Club.

“My favorite part of the day was being able to be at the Boys and Girls Club when the kids received their art kits. You could actually see the excitement on their faces when they saw us and all of the supplies,” says Community Outreach Specialist Abbey Feenstra.

It was so fulfilling to get to create these kits and then get to help them use the supplies and see what unique ideas they had and wanted to create. I think everyone there felt the joy in the room,” Feenstra said.

ATC Panel

Earlier this month, we also hosted our first ATC Panel. At this event, many of our Partners got together to network with each other and present information like needs, projects, and successes within their organizations to Journeys employees. We were able to see the impacts we have helped them make and where we can help them as the year progresses. It was a huge success, and we will definitely be having more meetings and events with our nonprofit friends in the future!

Other Sponsorships

There were a few other events that ATC sponsored this spring, including the YWCA Luncheon where women in Journeys and other partner companies got together in March for Women’s History Month. During lunch, they listened to guest speakers and a panel of executives and participated in a Q&A to get inspired and learn together in their professional roles.

All in all, this spring has been one for the books for Journeys ATC. We’ve already accomplished so much, and 2023 is just getting started! We can’t wait to take you on the rest of our journey this year, stay tuned to stay up-to-date on what we’re up to next.
